Bao He Wan
Uses: Indigestion, Bloating, Acid Reflux. Bao He Wan (Bao He Pian) is a well known and very widely used herbal remedy for indigestion and digestive upset. It has been used for hundreds of years both on its own or combined to aid the effectiveness and digestability of other herbal formulas. Symptoms that are appropriate for this formula include bloating after meals, belching and/or gas, reflux, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, burning sensations in the abdomen and/or pain. From a Chinese Medicine perspective this formula resolves food stagnation.*
Recommended Dosage: Take 5 to 8 pills after a meal with warm boiled water 2-3 times per day. At full dose, one bottle renders a 10-day supply. For children you should adjust the dosage proportionally with their weight – or there is a modified liquid extract version of this formula called tummy tamer which is likely easier to administer.
Caution: Not recommended during pregnancy. Use with caution during lactation. While taking avoid oily and/or very cold foods. Not suitable for indigestion due to diseases of liver, heart, or kidney (Shu Gan Wan may be better for liver related digestive problems). It may not suitable for you if the symptoms do not ease in a few days. If you are weakened from illness or from age do not use this formula over long periods (Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan may be better).
