Gui Pi Wan
Uses: Insomnia, fatigue, poor memory, anemia. Gui Pi Wan (Gui Pi Pian, Gui Pi Tang) literally translates as the “restore the spleen formula” and works to build the blood and qi of the body from a Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective. Issues such as insomnia, memory problems, palpitations, fatigue and poor appetite arise from a weak spleen and heart system in Chinese Medicine – this often being the result of stressful lives with irregular eating and sleeping patterns. This formula helps to remedy this range of issues. And, while these conditions can (and often do) arise without the western diagnosis of anemia, this formula is used for those who have anemia as well regardless of other symptoms.*
This formula will generally be taken for 1-3 months for best results. You may also consider Jia Wei Gui Pi Wan or “Augmented Restore the Spleen Formula” which may be better for certain related conditions.
Caution: Use it under the direction of a herbalist if you are pregnant, a child, have diabetes, and/or have high blood pressure. You should not take this formula if you have a fever or other strong heat signs. It works best before eating and you should avoid oily/fried foods for best results.
