Xiao Yao Wan




Uses: Stress, Depression, Anxiety, PMS. Xiao Yao Wan (Xiao Yao San, Tangkuei and Bupleurum Formula, Ease Tonic) translates as “free and easy wanderer” is a classic, extremely well known formula designed to treat liver qi stagnation with underlying blood stagnation and spleen qi deficiency. Symptoms may include anxiety, irritability, stress, anger/irritation, depression, hypochondriac pain, PMS, and headaches. This formula is used in commonly used in patients with emotional disorders including anxiety and depression, chronic or acute stress, PMS, irregular menstruation, gyneccomastia, female infertility, male impotence, IBS, and gastritis. It is the base for Jia Wei Xiao Yao Wan which clears more heat so is better suited for all the same issues with additional heat signs – perhaps PMS with acne as an example.*

With appropriate use expect results within 3 to 5 weeks of daily use.

Caution: Do not use if pregnant or if you experience heavy bleeding during menstruation.  For women they should stop taking the formula while menstruating and then continue when menstruation has ceased.

Ingredients: Radix Bupleuri (Chai Hu), Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Dang Gui), Radix Paeoniae Alba (Bai Shao), Rhizoma Atractylodis Macroce (Bai Zhu), Poria (Fu Ling), Radix Glycyrrhizae (Gan Cao), Herba Menthae (Bo He), Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens (Sheng Jiang).
